Wayne PhippsYear of birth : 1968 | Wayne began running in elementary school and dominated the region in middle distance running. He eventually became a provincial champion in everything from the 100 to 1500. He also proved to be a top runner in Canada for middle distance and cross country. In college, Wayne competed for both the University of Montana and UBC. After earning his Masters degree in Sports Science at the University of Oregon he moved on to the University of Idaho to become an assistant coach and work towards his Ph.D. After successful seasons as cross country/distance and hurdles coach, Wayne began his head coaching career in 2000 with a Big West Conference Championship. Since then he has earned several more Conference Championships in track and cross country, coached NCAA All Americans and Champions, and consistently finished in the top 25 of NCAA Track and Field programs. | |
